Ah, I was just wondering when the "but the market should solve this" argument was going to show up! Financial services are heavily regulated because they are so complex that the knowledge asymmetry is heavily detrimental to users. 1/n
Adtech and what is generally done to personal data is exactly the same. Consent to that is a travesty, regulation is needed. Like smoking, the injury from privacy loss is separated in time from its cause. Humans suck at that, regulation is needed. (2/n)
