"Beyond the Dynamical Universe", by Silverstein, Stuckey, and McDevitt. This seemed... handwavy? I stopped halfway through because they mention lots of interesting problems but it felt like they didn't ever get to very crisp answers. I'd be curious to hear other opinions.
