DSRs are hard, but they must not be diluted. They are key to being a good custodian of other people’s data. We need to break new ground in internal data management, and we need technical standards to help automate them.

That so much rides on the data economy is reason to focus *more* on improving DSRs. "Oh there's a lot of data and it's really important so let's half-arse it" isn't a very strong argument.

I doubt that anyone with a substantial data operation does DSRs absolutely perfectly in every instance. As a rule, tech has tended to grow faster than our ability to govern it. DSRs help ensure people stay in the driver's seat. Let's push *forward*!
