891,772 cookies & 1,121 trackers for a bit of browsing makes it clear why browsers must stop this. But an adtech coalition is trying to prevent them (lists.w3.org/Archives/Publi…) and argues that tracking is so good there should be a universal ID for people (discourse.wicg.io/t/advertising-…).
