It’s actually much more wasteful than you think. For instance, there’s a DNT header attached to every single static file that’s requested, including every image or font or bit of CSS… So now we’re taking a highly optimised process that’s serving from a CDN and…

…instead we’re now calling an API, hitting a DB, and flipping a bit thousands of times a second? Doing this makes things slower and expensive for zero added privacy to users. It’s much more sensible to treat it as “already having opted out”.
