Please pay attention to bundles. They could be used for good (packaging ads) but they are a massive architectural change that has the potential to turn the whole Web into AMP. It would be a scandalous imperialist landgrab for Google to introduce them on their own.

There are ways to get this ball rolling safely. First, introduce them only without SXG. No URL replacement, no serving from other origins. Google has no business serving other people's content. It's hard to imagine opposing the open Web so much you'd want this.
Second, introduce them in a limited, reasonably controlled context, where there is a strong use case: ads. This would make it possible to have ads with tons of advantages for users and publishers, like archiving, better scanning, controlling connections outside the package.
It's hard to see how such a major change could be carried out so carelessly, with the Search carousel as its only driver. Anyone working towards a more open Web should be trying to *prevent* the carousel. No, origin testing doesn't count as careful enough on this one.
