Just my theories and probably not exhaustive, but:
• Googlers don't include Google in the threat model. That's understandable, but given how bad things have become with Google's effects on the Web, it doesn't work.
Fixing that would probably include an internal review system that focuses on how technical decisions play into the existing massive self-preferencing system, and favour options that prevent it. Yes, that's hard, but scale doesn't come cheap :)
• Dismissing feedback about AMP. It doesn't matter that the intent was to compete with native. For pubs the effect was disastrous: extra work, lower CPM, lower conversion, broken paywall, and yet more centralisation to Google.
• Maybe acknowledge that publishers were forced into AMP, and that fixing that should be a priority?
• When we provide feedback that the new things has aspects that look way too much like the previous failed thing, maybe don't get defensive about it?
At the end of the day all we're saying is: we don't want you serving our content and we don't want to be forced into rules that advantage only you. Not much!
