Watched a bit of The Pack and I don't quite get it. Why do all the stuff with the competition and the humans instead of just spending the time with some good doggies?

Wait. There's a guy who found his dog because he walked past a guy who was telling his wife "I'll deal with you when I'm done killing this dog." And so he stepped in to save the dog. What about, err, the woman? WTF @amazon?
