Seeing the @TXAG present evidence that AMP was intended to harm publishers shouldn't make us forget that Core Web Vitals is more of the same. As currently designed, the CWV strongly incentivise AMP while pretenting to create competition and openness. ⬇️

1. Set metrics, say everyone can compete. 2. Make the metrics *rank* content (instead of set a UX threshold). 3. Give AMP an arbitrary leg up by preloading, to force publishers to still use AMP to be competitive in SEO. 4. Profit!

Just a suggestion, for the health of the Web: what would you all think if we got a group together, with the CAT folks and the AMP AC, to peacefully wind AMP down? Put whatever's good in standards, remove the rest, have browsers to pick canonical.
