I think the GDPR gave consent its chance to shine. The result is complete failure. Instead of toxic data processing we have toxic data processing with dark UI and entitled brokers trading in "consented data" that people have "chosen to share". Burn it all with fire.

The problem isn't so much consent, IMHO, as the fact that most modern data processing - even the good, pro-user kind - is simply not consentable.

Sometimes it'll take me days of work with access to top data scientists, lawyers, a kick ass team to question my choices, etc. to determine that something is safe. Then I'm supposed to somehow convey that with three sentences and two buttons?

The real mystery, though, is how @hartzog and @neilmrichards can write smart things faster than I can read them.
