You're not thick at all — you're working against a malicious party that's using one of the most opaque and complex ecosystems ever created to cover its tracks and try to trick you. This is hard!
To track down the ad, you would have to:
• Go back to Crimson
• Somehow get the same ad served
• Look at the source to find the ad call and the serving stack
• Use that to report to the Crimson, so they can report to their providers, who can block the seat.
This is hard because you'd have to dig into dev tools likely a few iframes deep. If the perpetrators are half smart, you'll never get the ad again because they are probably targeting away from you now or dropped a cookie so the malicious code doesn't trigger twice.
