That's actually a real theory, the "riding the juggernaut" thing!
Replying to an earlier tweet of mine
"The Consequences of Modernity", by Anthony Giddens. I liked it for the intellectual toolbox it offers. An idea like "disembedding" captures notions of "lost locality of processes" much less clumsily. The view of modernity as us "riding a juggernaut" works well for tech critics.♥ 3
