I've been wondering along similar lines. We need a way to tie content publishing like on the Web to distributed computing and some form of contract (though I'm still wondering about whether existing smart contracts are right).

I've also been meaning to investigate DAOs much more closely, notably in terms of how to nest them. But there is only so much time in the day and sadly no one will pay me just to do whatever the fuck I want :)
