A lot of the W3C work on ads so far has been about people explaining their differing views and showing their different potential solutions to the (many) problems of adtech.
That has been useful, but at some point this is standards: you need to pick ONE.
I think the dynamic of establishing standards here will be difficult at times, but will be less hostile than the more open-ended conversations. At some point, the group has to make a resolution and that is the end of the debate (unless new technical evidence surfaces).
Anyway — we have a *lot* of work to do. Hated as it is, advertising is a key infrastructure of democracy. The best time to get it right was twenty years ago. The second best time is now.
