Lawyers have parties to a contract, and anyone else is a third party. The normal tech understanding is similar, not a contract but the parties to an interaction are the person and the first party, others are third parties.

Adtech people like to confuse things because otherwise they'd have to accept that they logically have fewer rights. Eg. the Criteo/SWAN antiprivacy activists claim that Disqus is a first party and a publisher. Laughable but very legacy adtech.

There's a French saying, "les cons, ça ose tout, c'est même à ça qu'on les reconnaît."
