Thanks! I'm glad you liked that. I think that @joe_zappa has a point about a business case for social change, but sometimes that can be challenging because if the primary differentiator you have is that you're responsible, that dies with the next market downturn or CEO.

I think the problem described by @UofDigital there is a classic cooperation problem: a lot of people in adtech would actually like to not be jerks, but they only way they see that happening is if others do the same — otherwise they'll get outcompeted. And it's hard to commit.

I did some work on that a couple of years ago. Basically, you need to have some form of shared infrastructure that bad actors can be excluded from, and credible multistakeholder governance over that. The draft idea's at: darobin.github.io/garuda/.

I would humbly suggest that the impending creation of a PAT WG in W3C would be the right time and place for the industry to get its shit together and walk the talk on this!
