Since that Quora answer the market cap has gone up to almost $4bn. I would expect the NYT’s value to be less volatile than l’Express because it’s a lot less dependent on ads, and also is less about maronniers.

My anecdata matches yours, but they could accomplish that *and* spread pathogens. I notably see a biofilm the same colour as that which forms in dishwashers. Colour is not the most conclusive indicator, but that stuff is vile.

I am in favour of some competition, but most other vendors seem to be tepid in moving their experimentation forward. What’s more, the uncertainty makes it harder for publishers to adapt.
ITP is neat and moderate; it could work with other approaches, not really compete with them.

This email notification from @facebook is a perfect example of what happens when you fail to understand engagement and focus on measurable but useless KPIs.
It is refined, detailed, iterated — designed. Yet it has everything except the actual content.

In other words, this is the social equivalent of brochure websites back in the 2000s that used target=_blank on every single external link. It’s a cheap, cheap trick to «keep you on the site».
People *notice* this. It’s a dark pattern, it’s manipulative, it’s design trash.

Unless I'm missing something Google Docs is basically all of what's wrong with Word but with a crappier UI, dumped in a shared folder with bad search, bad URLs, little in the way of useful structure... In terms of where content goes to die it's worse than Confluence 🤗

I think your line of argument has a few issues. 1) I’m not sure who the NYT has given more press to than the other since it’s been accused of both. 2) I don’t think that opinion or entertainment operate under the same moral requirements as political campaigning.
