Indeed! We’re still far from where we’d love to be, but we’ve shut down programmatic in Europe and are doing the same in apps, removed a ton of tracking, we don’t have GPS (and don’t want it), and what sensitive data we have is certainly not handled that way.

Sure enough we need to do better, but we have people dedicated to it. One thing that makes this hard is the “everyone is doing it” attitude in adtech. We need innovation, not people who are content with doing something if “everyone is doing it”.

The market is ripe for disruption but everyone in adtech is just trying to make a copy of Google or Facebook’s tracking but with less scale. How can that succeed? I promise you: we don’t need yet another universal ID let alone a “personal identity graph”. *yaaaaaawn*

Anyway — we’ll get there! My personal intuition is that you can run a successful business on the internet by doing what your users want instead of acting against them. It’s a minority model today, but I think it has a bright future.
