Chrome is engineered for tracking, and tracking sustains an economic model with inherent scaling effects that fosters concentration and intermediary capture. This helps Google and to a lesser degree Facebook, and no one else.

I too am a Web developer, but the Web is much more than just technology. Apple's approach is a problem too, I do not claim otherwise, but less essentially.
Apple makes apps more competitive, artificially. Google makes the Web less healthy economically.
Eventually, we need to fix both. But while the Web can endure unfair competition it cannot survive if its economic model is withers and dies. That's why I believe we need a better Chrome much more than we need a better Safari.
