What people want and what drives adoption are overlapping but different things. People want things but might not immediately react to them (eg. due to search costs), conversely things can drive adoption outside of wants, eg. ads, defaults.
I'd be curious to hear if someone has tried to correct for the effect of being the default browser on the world's largest OS and a years-long constant ad campaign across Google properties on Chrome adoption. Do you know of such a thing?
