We've made several attempts at constructive proposals and been building consensus with publishers to make this easier on everyone. So far Google is just stonewalling, they seem to have no interest in the opinion of people who don't already agree with them.

It sucks — we could have solved this among smart tech folks who want to make the web work; instead some antitrust court or regulator is going to have to detangle AMP/SXG/CWV/Showcase/etc. and we'll have to hope they do it right.
