Thanks — these are interesting reasons. Regarding free riders, my expectation from a free rider situation is that it mostly concerns a common-resource pool. In this context, the expectation would be that the parties have a say in governance.

I won't comment on collecting "just in case" — data collection without purpose is pretty much a textbook GDPR issue so I wouldn't want anyone to comment on that :-)
