I used to think that a relatively piecemeal approach might work, but I'm a lot less sure now, so I'm back at the drawing board. I wrote a bit about some of it in berjon.com/stewardship/.

At heart, it's a problem of unfettered power and gatekeeping. We had a world of many gatekeepers, we wanted to have more (or none at all), and instead we have two or three. It continues because they are allowed to extract resources from everyone else and no one stops them.

So the question is: what's the smallest number of moves that breaks the algorithmic media duopoly? Sorry I don't have better solution yet, I have just started rethinking the approach!
