For all the tut-tutting, web3 is mostly an overcorrection (plus the usual grifters). We have a web fully controlled by a few megacorporations that seek to intermediate everything, preventing sovereignty & governance. And many useful architectures don't have a business model.

Overindexing on governance and sovereignty, and financialising everything is almost certainly not the solution. But we need to make collectivity and money work. If we play this right, there's a great baby in that murky bathwater.

I don't know if and when we'll get there, but blunt rejection isn't the answer. In the meantime, I find the overlap between the people who don't see why anyone would be interested in these problems and the people who don't see fault in the current system quite revealing.
