There are literally hundreds of things in my house that are the way they are because someone else decided what's safe and what isn't — because they *do* know better — and then left some differentiators that I can understand for me to pick from.
The entire consent movement in privacy is the delusion that what works for research on human subjects would work exactly as well for the regulation of potentially harmful household chemicals. All it does is help the worst in industry and harm those already the most at risk.
