Oh, I'm not saying that Apple is better. I'm just saying that it takes a rather depressing level of self-deception to work for Google and think you're somehow working for the Web's good more than Apple is. The reality distortion field is just as powerful for both.

Chrome gets better rep with developers because they treat the Web like an SDK. With the effort they're putting into owning it as their own, it makes sense. It's just like adding nice APIs to Android.

At the end of the day, both companies are trying to intermediate everything. They treat any information or interaction that doesn't go through them as a bug and will stop at nothing to fix that. They just have different ways to get there.

I'm biased towards Web folks, so I used to think that Chrome people would understand that and look for ways to avoid it. The moral smugness in their Apple dunking puts paid to that.
