What people are missing in the debate about "Zero-Party Data" is that "Second-Party Data" is already nonsense. The "third" in third-party isn't from counting 1,2,3… it just designates any party other than the two primarily involved in a relationship.

That's how you also get nonsense like the people who contend that third parties should have equal access to data. They are by definition subsidiary and external to the primary, direct relationship between a person and a site. That's what the name means.
