I don't actually think that it's a boil the ocean approach. Je makes a good case that we need to be ambitious, and that it's possible. (Read the book!) It's interesting that Piketty is basically saying the same thing.

Totalitarians and corporations (esp. tech ones) have postnational plans of truly global scope. Unless the democratic, egalitarian folks do too, we won't even show up for the fight. (Arendt already made that point and she was right.)
