Warren Weaver distinguished three problem classes: 1. of simplicity, like relating two variables 2. of disorganised complexity, that can be attacked with stats 3. of organised complexity, where details and structure are key. Engineering is good at 1, ML at 2, social media is 3.

I'm oversimplifying of course, but I think that the coarse mapping is roughly right. What's really funny with the elonites is that they don't even understand how hard 1 is at scale, let alone that the real difficulty is two whole complexity classes harder.
