I disagree. I think that browsers are dying in part because they're stuck in the tabs+windows metaphor. Who wants to write advanced behaviour in that kind of crappy context? I think it was a good direction to explore and that there is business potential in supporting apps well.

Evidently this is all speculation, but I think that money could be made in the space of "thicker" browsers and that FxOS explored that.
