Ah, great idea reaching for affordances here! Maybe a slight modification: rather than situating affordances in media and mind, maybe they exist at their interaction point? A lone tree doesn't afford housing/dessert/scratching post, but the tree/{bird,human,bear} pairs do?

We can then steal from Jenny Davis and from there maybe we could poke at the differing affordances of audio vs text depending on what one's mind is looking for? I'm not sure that text should count as "visual" but (I feel) it allows questions (and daydreaming) when audio does not.
