So much of the narrative is that it's great tech that just happens to have harmful side effects, as if that position made sense. "It's a great bridge, it just happens to collapse when people are on it." "Top notch car, it just catches fire when people drive it. People amirite?"

If you build tech at social scales and it has bad social effects, you're just bad at what you do. The number of users you have may be much more strongly correlated with your company's market behaviour than its technical proficiency.
